On May 10th, HireVue was awarded FedRAMP authorization. The authorization caps years of continual audits, monitoring, and improvements to the way we secure our customers’ data.

FedRAMP (the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program) is “a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services.” It streamlines how US government agencies find and onboard reliable and secure vendors.

FedRAMP-authorized vendors have passed a rigorous set of information security controls which verify the organization’s ability to keep the data of US government agencies safe and secure. With this authorization, HireVue joins the very small group of 140 cloud-based software vendors who have achieved this status, and is the sole FedRAMP-authorized provider of video interviewing, video-based assessments, and game-based assessments.

Making US Agency Recruiting Competitive with the Private Sector

Recruiting teams across the US are feeling the pressure of record-low unemployment. Those hiring for federal agencies likely have it the worst.

According to the Office of Personnel Management, it takes federal agencies an average of 106 days to hire a new employee. This is more than double the private sector average of 42.

The pressure is particularly pronounced when it comes to recruiting technical talent. Cybersecurity, the proper development and use of artificial intelligence, and the ability to create and secure digital assets are increasingly becoming matters of national security. How federal agencies attract, vet, and hire technical talent plays a crucial role in their ability to keep US citizens and their data safe.

With several lucrative offers from the private sector in hand, how many top-tier candidates will wait an additional two months to hear back from a US agency?

HireVue’s AI-driven talent assessment platform is built to uncover great candidates fast. We’ve seen recruiting teams cut hiring times by 90%, while increasing quality of hire.

Up to this point, these sorts of results have been primarily accessible to private sector firms. We’re excited that our proven, secure platform is now available for US agencies to recruit the talent they need to better serve American citizens.

Empowering Diverse Representation in US Government

We’ve seen over and over again that more diverse teams lead to better business results in the private sector. For US agencies, there’s another imperative: that their workforces reflect the diversity of the nation they serve.

This is likely why the first strategic pillar of the US Department of Labor’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan states:

“Secure a high-performing workforce drawn from all segments of American society.”

HireVue was founded on the premise that great talent can come from anywhere. In a world where only a few candidates out of hundreds receive the opportunity to interview, job seekers with less privileged backgrounds are often left behind.

Today, we empower organizations across industries to discover high potential talent, regardless of background. We’ve empowered highly exclusive firms to expand the scope of their college recruiting beyond the Ivy League. We’ve empowered healthcare recruiting teams to look deeper at their applicant pools, and uncover great candidates who previously applied more than 40 times.

We’ve proved, time and time again, that the best talent can come from anywhere.

HireVue’s platform empowers US agencies to cast a wider net. Rather than focusing on candidates from traditional backgrounds, agencies can give every qualified candidate the opportunity to take a fair, structured, OnDemand video interview.

Our mission to give great talent access to great opportunities extends to our AI-driven HireVue Assessments, which work to mitigate bias in the hiring process. HireVue’s predictive, validated assessments are rigorously and regularly tested for adverse impact in accordance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s (EEOC) Uniform Guidelines. This means US agencies can look beyond traditional sources of talent, and recruit a workforce representative of broader society, while increasing the caliber of their teams.

Broader Implications for HireVue Customers

While FedRAMP is designed to streamline US government agencies’ ability to onboard reliable and secure vendors, the high standard of security required to achieve authorization means peace-of-mind for organizations in the private sector as well. Data security has always been a focus here at HireVue - privacy and data protection are one of our five Ethical Principles - and we’re proud to join the exclusive group of FedRAMP-authorized vendors.
